The name and logo of our company are inspired by a legend from Greek mythology. In the Illustriertes Lexikon der Mythologie, published in 1874, the myth of the gifted singer and poet Arion at the court of King Periander of Corinth is told as follows:
To spread his art abroad, Arion journeyed through Italy and Sicily, amassing great riches. His treasures were coveted by the crew of his homebound ship, and they resolved to end his life. Arion, seeing that pleas would not save his life, asked only to be allowed to sing one song as a farewell to life. He touched his lyre and sang so sweetly that dolphins swam up and surrounded the ship. Springing into the sea, Arion entrusted himself to the friendly creatures, and a dolphin bore him safe to the shore. When the sailors came to Corinth, King Periander had them crucified, and Arion set up near the temple of Neptune a memorial statue of a dolphin carrying a man on his back.
